Hello, There are a million reasons (at least) why having a dog is great, but dog poop is not one of them. There’s no dressing up the fact that we’d be a lot happier if dogs were all entrance and no exit. However, dog poop is useful. So useful, we should all be keeping a close eye on our dog’s stools because their shape, consistency and color can tell us much about what’s happening in their gut — including whether
they’re eating a good diet. To help, we’ve borrowed these handy graphics from 5-star-rated fresh dog food brand The Farmer’s Dog, which were created in consultation with a team of three veterinarians and illustrate perfectly what poop should and shouldn’t be like.
The first illustration is
on form, odor and consistency — you don’t want dry, small pellets, nor do you want diarrhea or soft blobs (especially with a nauseating stench). It should scoop up cleanly and have a bearable smell.
The second looks at the color of your dog’s poop. As you know, there’s a ghastly
rainbow when it comes to stool color, so this graphic gives you clues as to what each color might mean.
