Hey, Happy Wednesday! Hands up if you like going to the dentist. If your hands are anywhere other than pinned to your sides right now, we need to have words. The only positive sensation anyone should feel at a dentist’s surgery is relief if you leave
without being drilled or scraped. Dental work is unpleasant for dogs, too, often involving a general anesthetic. It’s also preventable with a little care and attention: daily brushing, dental chews and paying attention to what they eat.
That third part is something not all dog parents consider but, as with humans, diet is important to dogs’ dental health. And their dental health is crucial to their well-being — indeed, poor dental health can lead to problems with major organs. Oh, and unless you have really good pet insurance that covers dental illness (few do), then bad teeth and gums can be very expensive.
That’s why we’ve put together this
article: How Do Dogs’ Diets Affect Dental Health? It covers everything from foods to avoid, the pros and cons of raw bones, and wet versus dry food. You can also see our list of the Best Dog Dental Chews.
That’s all from me this week. I hope this email helps keep your dog’s smile perfect.
