There may be a way to count the number of times the word “protein” is mentioned on the Dog Food Advisor website but, frankly, I can’t be bothered to find it. We all know that the total is going to be enormous.
Protein is undoubtedly the most discussed nutrient on the site due to its essential role in dogs’ diets and the greatly varying quantity and quality in dog foods.
But can you have too much protein in dog food?

She looks at when high-protein levels are helpful, if high-protein dog foods are a good thing and if dogs should ever be on a low-protein diet.
It’s an educational read for anyone, especially if you thought the ‘protein good or bad’ issue was, like Guinness, black and white.
