Hey, Happy Wednesday! I love a murder mystery — any kind of
crime fiction, in fact. The undisputed Queen of Crime is, of course, Agatha Christie. Oh to have spent a day in her company,
picking her dastardly mind. If you’re aware of her work, you’ll know that poisoning was one of Christie’s favorite methods of dispatching her characters. Strychnine,
cyanide, cocaine, morphine, to name but a few, were used to devious effect. As was arsenic.
In fact, I’d wager most people reading this will associate arsenic with poison. And yet, arsenic is commonly found in dog food.
Don’t panic, though! Arsenic is
a naturally-occuring substance found in a lot of food, including human food. However, not all arsenic is the same, with some types safer than others. There are
also limits to the amount of arsenic deemed safe in dog food, but these vary. To explain more, our nutritionist Laura
Ward has written this article: Arsenic in Pet Food – Should You Be Worried? It’s not a whodunnit but it does help to solve the mystery of how big an issue arsenic in pet food is.
