Martha was our first dog and I can honestly say she made our family complete. She wasn’t particularly cuddly, but she showed her love by always having to be where we were. She was permanently by my feet or sitting
between my husband and me on the couch.
She helped defuse tension and stress and, somehow, always seemed to know when we were sad - coming to rest her head on our legs
and offering comfort.
She made us laugh, too, with her funny little ways. As she got older she became a bit of a diva (refusing to walk through any door, unless it was opened
wide, or walk past anything that was slightly in her way - including the cat!).
We miss her so much — especially her joyful greeting whenever we walked through the door. The
house just doesn't feel the same without her. But we had 12 wonderful years with Martha and, over time, I am sure the happy memories we have will far outweigh the sadness we currently feel.
