Hey, Happy Monday! Here at Dog Food Advisor we continually
strive to provide the best, up-to-date dog food advice and dog food reviews so you can make informed decisions about what to feed your canine companion. Today, we wanted to expand our nutrition net to cover moisture in your dog’s food. And let’s be honest, it’s something you’ve probably not given much thought to. But if you feed your dog dry food, it might be worth considering that most dry food contains only 6-10% moisture. Compare this to meat in raw or wet dog food, which contains 60-80% moisture, and it might raise an eyebrow or two. Obviously, if your dog is lapping up enough water from their bowl every day this may not be a major concern. But if your dog is suffering from health conditions such as constipation or issues with urination, it could be improved by getting more moisture via their food.
Irene Gunawan, Director of R&D
at Open Farm, explained some of the benefits of making the switch to moisture-rich wet dog
food. These can include better digestion, improved hydration and enhanced palatability. “Proper hydration supports bodily functions, including digestion, circulation, and temperature regulation,” she says. If this is something you think might help your pup, you can read more in our article The importance of moisture in dog food, which covers all you need to know about moisture levels in dog food. Open Farm has just launched a new pate formula of wet dog food. To celebrate, it has a special Buy One Get One Half Price offer on all its wet food, from today until June 10th. Please remember, we’re never paid to promote a certain dog food, and all of our reviews are impartial and
unbiased.
