What does this mean? Well, it means a new and improved website — which some of you will have already noticed — plus a lovely new logo (see the top of this email).
Why have we done this and how is it better?
We’ve done it to grow and better support the Dog Food Advisor community. We want more people to have access to our
impartial dog food reviews, nutritional advice and feeding tips — and to provide these things more often and in new ways.
I
know many of you loved the old site but it had limitations for both you, the users, and us, the people trying to create content that helps dogs have a better life.
The changes will, I promise, improve life for everyone — even if they take a little while to get used to. Here’s why…
The
redesigned site, which we hope is still familiar, lets us produce fresh content in different formats, such as video reviews, requested by our users.
This isn’t just to make things more ‘jazzy’ — it’s part of a broader goal to improve access for dog parents of all abilities. We believe this is vital to our mission of saving good dogs from bad dog food.
We’ve also enhanced the site’s navigation so it’s easier to find different food categories as well as breed- and condition-specific content.
Not all of the changes will be obvious. For example, we’ve refined page structures so more people across the web will discover the important reviews, articles, and recalls on Dog Food
Advisor.
Our content management system (CMS) or ‘back-end’ is infinitely better. This makes it much easier for me, Julia and the DFA team to organize and maintain the thousands of existing reviews and articles, plus add new content to enhance dog parent’s knowledge of diet and nutrition.
It’s also a pretty color!
These upgrades are just the beginning. We'll be looking
to add more features and make more improvements. This involves listening to the community, so I'd love to hear your constructive and polite feedback. Just reply to this email.
Like I say, change can take time getting used to, but I’m sure we’ll all soon feel the benefits. And much will remain the same, so next week I’ll be back to writing about things like poop.
