Hey, Happy Wednesday! Do you have a food that you won't eat,
but not because of the flavor or any ethical reason? It's for an almost undefinable reason. For example, I like the taste of shrimp. I will not, however, shell one myself.
The notion of pulling it apart gives me the "ick". My wife has a similar thing with porridge.
Offal or organ meat can
cause the ick. These less popular parts of animal make some people squeamish. (I've eaten chicken hearts, sheep's brain, beef cheek and brawn — three of the dishes were delicious and they weren't the brain.) Dogs, however, don't get the ick when it comes to offal, which is great for them and your pocket. These unfashionable cuts are an underrated source of nutrition. Offal is extremely common in dog food. It’s a superfood that dogs love, particularly in a raw food or fresh food diet, and it’s relatively cheap due to less human demand. So maybe that ick factor isn't such a bad thing...
