Hey,
Happy Wednesday!
I hope you all had wonderful Thanksgiving last week.
I also want to apologize if you felt we sent too many emails with Black Friday dog food deals. I
know we weren't alone in that — that day can feel like a storm in your inbox — so please allow me to explain...
First of all, life
is expensive. It's seemingly much more expensive now than even a couple of years ago — and the price of dog food is no exception.
This is the main reason why we bring you big dog food discounts whenever we can. And why we negotiate exclusive discounts with food brands and retailers, which you can access year-round.
Secondly, this site is — and has always been — funded by affiliate links. This means we might get a small commission if you click through from our website or emails and buy some dog food.
Indeed, we rely on dog parents buying food through those links. Without you doing that, we wouldn't be able to provide the free services we do: the unbiased dog food reviews, the dog food recall alerts, the educational articles, and so on.
And yes, even with this funding model, all reviews are unbiased. No brand has any influence on our ratings. We have never been paid or sent gifts in exchange for a favorable review. Our review process is the same for every
recipe of every food. If it wasn't, there would be no value in them.
Someone could pay us five bucks per can sold through us and offer our readers a 90% discount, but
if it's a two-star food, it's a two-star food — and it would never get mentioned in our emails or our Best Dog Food lists.
Other review sites might not take this approach, but it is core to Dog Food Advisor's philosophy. You can read more about all this on our Disclaimer and Disclosure page.
I hope you understand now why we sent those emails. They were for your benefit — and ours.
That's the explanation and some information — here's the education (via more information):
One food you won't buy on Black Friday or through our links is homemade dog food.
It's
something you might have considered, for cost or health reasons, or because your dog is a picky eater.
But it's not easy to do. Will the food you make be complete and
balanced, with all the nutrients your dog needs? Do you have time to make it? Will it actually save you money?
Well, we’ve
put together this article to give you as much information as possible.
